BREAKING NEWS: Dr. Sirajul Haq Talukder, Deputy Chief of Planning Commission and Deputy Project Director of Support to ICT Task Force Programme, Ministry of Planning passed away on mid Wednesday night (Approx. 12:30 AM) 25 August 2010 (Innanillah-e-wainna elaihe raziwun). Mr. Talukder left behind his wife, two daughters, many relatives and a host of well wishers to mourn his death. Everybody pray to Allah for his soul.

Project Name Setting up GIS Facilities in Agriculture Division of the Planning Commission and e-Government Survey
Objectives
Under the SICT Program, the following tasks will be undertaken:
o        Access to ADP database will be extended to all stakeholders so that each can update and retrieve information according to their own needs
o        Web-enabling the database so that everyone can access it from the Internet
o        Establishment of GIS lab at the Bangladesh Planning Commission campus
o        Common administrative and database management system
o        Relevant training of officials

The benefits that citizens will get after successful completion of this project are listed below:
-          Citizens can get access to ADP database through the Internet
-          Citizens can see the regional allocation of resources
-          Citizens can see beneficiary groups
-          Citizens will benefit from improved transparency by the government

-          Multi-user database that allows efficient data entry and retrieval
-          Updated information on physical and financial progress of projects
-          Efficient preparation of budget
-          Enhance capacity for more efficient analysis for PRSP
