BREAKING NEWS: Dr. Sirajul Haq Talukder, Deputy Chief of Planning Commission and Deputy Project Director of Support to ICT Task Force Programme, Ministry of Planning passed away on mid Wednesday night (Approx. 12:30 AM) 25 August 2010 (Innanillah-e-wainna elaihe raziwun). Mr. Talukder left behind his wife, two daughters, many relatives and a host of well wishers to mourn his death. Everybody pray to Allah for his soul.

Project Activities
Project Name e-Governance Application and Online Daily Market Price at the Department of Agriculture Marketing under Ministry of Agriculture
Objectives
Under the SICT Program, the following tasks will be undertaken:
-          Daily market information from 30 districts will be made available online
-          Price information of about 260 agricultural commodities will be made available
-          Data can be easily downloaded from the website by specifying the commodity, the market and the date-range
-          Historical data of agricultural products will be stored in a digital format so that they can be used for analytical and research purposes
-          Necessary hardware resources and dial-up connectivity will be provided to DAM and district-level offices
Citizen Benefits
The benefits that citizens will get after successful completion of this project are listed below. It is important to recognize that other media such as newspapers, radio and TV may serve to take the information available through the Internet to the target user groups.
-          Farmers will be better informed about the best prices of their products and can take decisions accordingly
-          Small businessmen will also benefit from this information
-          Agricultural researchers will be more empowered
Good Governance
The ways in which governance will improve after successful completion of this project are listed below:
-          Policy-makers will be more informed about the price variations in different regions of the country, and take appropriate measures, if needed
-          Policy-makers will be better prepared to take precautionary steps regarding rising prices of crucial commodities
-          The government can serve the needs of the poor farmers better
